The Turrialba Valley lies 65 km. east of San José, the nation's capital. Irrigated by the Reventazón River,
the valley is home of famous white water rafting and coffee plantations.

DAY 1.

• Arrival to Hotel Casa Turire.
• Birding the hotel grounds, Red Breasted Blackbird, Tropycal Mockingbird are just around the corner in our property.

DAY 2.

• Cerro el Silencio, full day. Spectacular hidden birding spot unknown by most Costa Rican birders. Possible species, Roufus Browed Tyrannulet, Sharpbill, Resplendent Quetzalt, Costa Rican Pigmy Owl, Lovely Cotinga, Ornate Hawk Eagle, Black Chested Hawk (Barred Hawk), Tiny Hawk, Double Toothed Kite, Black Hawk Eagle, Sulphur Winged Parakeet, Barred ParakeetMagenta Throated woodstar, Green Fronted Lancebill, Rufous Breated Antthrush and much more.

DAY 3.

• AM Birding Tuis Valley river. Possible species, Lanceolated Monklet, Black & Yellow Tanager, Speckled Tanager, Sunbittern, American Dipper, Ornate Hawk Eagle, among many other very interesting species.
• PM birding CATIE gardens and surroundings.
• Arrangements can be done to visit Rancho Naturalista hummingbird feeders.

DAY 4.

• AM La Marta private Bilogical Reserve, Furnarids, Tanagers, Hummingbirds, raptors and most of the middle elevation specialties are possible to be found here.
• PM birding Platanillo River. Possible species, Black Hawk Eagle, Sunbittern, Torrent Tyrannulet, Hummingbirds, and much more.

DAY 5.

• Hotel grounds and Angostura lake trails at Hotel Casa Turire.
• Check out time.

Connexion to any of the following important birding spots:

• Savegre Lodge, 2.5 hours drive.
• La Selva Biological Station, 2 hours drive.
• Selva Verde Lodge, 2 hours drive.
• Tortuguero Canals, 2 hours drive to Caño Blanco.

The following important National Parks as birding spots are possible to visit form the hotel as one day tours within 2 hours driving time as maximum.

• Braulio Carrillo National Park, Low middle elevation species.
• Tapanti National Park, middle elevation species.
• Turrialba Volcano National Park, highland species.
