The beauty of nature and the serenity of this picturesque country farm village now also include indulging yourself with delicious regional food and comfortable cozy accommodations. If you are coming to Costa Rica for relaxation, Villa Blanca is also the right choice. The hotel spa facilities and the Los Angeles Cloud Forest Private Reserve surrounding the property hosts a similar inventory of flora and fauna found in habitats such as Monteverde, yet with only a fraction of the driving time from San Jose. |
| Total renovations of the buildings and grounds were begun in May of 2004. Using the skills of over 130 local men and women, the Costa Rican farm village concept was re-created while still minimizing the impact on the environment. Every window and door structure was replaced or restored. New colonial roofing tiles were manufactured from recycled plastic bags from banana plantations. The former Hacienda guest rooms became El Mirador game room and guest salon. The power lines and transformers were put underground to create a more natural setting. All electrical and plumbing was upgraded and lighting was replaced with reproductions of candle lamps and oil lanterns. The 47 rooms were converted into 35 private "Casitas" that were carefully renovated to capture the setting of a Costa Rican farm village at the turn of the century, yet with all the quality and comfort of a first class boutique cloud forest hotel. |

We believe our authentic dining atmosphere is in tune with a Costa Rican menu of traditional family recipes handed down from previous generations along with the influence of indigenous Mayan Indians who inhabited Central America. At
1200 meters above sea level, the cool tropical cloud forest mist is
ideal for delicious homemade soups and fresh garden salads, including
local hearts of palm and avocado with farm dairy cheeses and tangy
salad dressings spiced with tropical herbs once traded with the
Spaniards.
