Caribbean Twist 8 days / 7 nights

Day 1: SAN JOSÉ - You will be met at the airport and transferred to the Hotel Colonial where you will stay one night in a Standard Double Room. In the heart of San Jose, you will be close to everything: restaurants, museums, art craft market, central avenue.

Day 2 & 3 : TORTUGUERO - We begin our trip early in the morning between 6:00 am to 7:00 am from San Jose. You will be traveling with a bilingual naturalist guide on an air conditioned bus. Drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park, where you have the opportunity to see beautiful views and abundant vegetation. On the way we will stop for breakfast and after, we will continue our trip to the dock driving by banana plantations. At the dock, you will board the covered boat to the lodge, passing the Tortuguero canals arriving between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the Evergreen Lodge the staff will be waiting for you with a refreshing cocktail, your rooms will be assigned and the guide will explain the afternoon activities after lunch -the visit to the Turtle Museum of the C.C.C. (Caribbean Conservation Corporation) and to the colorful Tortuguero town. You will return to the lodge around 5:15 p.m. Free time to enjoy the pool, the bar service and prepare for your dinner. Dinner service from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and then rest of the night free to enjoy the surroundings, pool and bar.

The next day, optional 6:15 am tour to admire the awakening of the wild life of Tortuguero. Return for breakfast (service between 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). Then there is a walk to admire the Tortuguero National Park. This is a wonderful and interesting experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna of Tortuguero National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch and free time for a siesta, enjoy the pool or go for a walk to the beach. Then you can stay at the lodge to explore the private trails of the lodge and visit the open butterfly garden. Dinner at the lodge and free night. On the last day, after breakfast we will begin our trip back to the main road to San Jose around 9:00 a.m. The boat will arrive to the dock around 11:00 a.m. Then our bus will be waiting for the drive back to San Jose. Stop en route where you will be dropped off at Siquirres.

Day 4 & 5 : CAHUITA – After being dropped off at Siquirres, your air conditioned Toyota Yaris will be waiting for you. From Siquirres, you will take the direction of Puerto Limón. When you arrive there, you will turn on your right following the signs to Cahuita, Puerto Viejo, Sixaola y the Panama border. You will take the first entrance to Cahuita on your left and follow the signs to the Suizo Loco Lodge, where you will stay 2 nights. After (or before) enjoying yourself at the beach mimicking lizards and fishes, we highly recommend you to visit the National Park of Cahuita.

Day 6 & 7 : TURRIALBA – On the morning of day 6, you will leave the Caribbean beaches of Cahuita and take the road in direction of Turrialba, towards your last stay of your vacation, Guayabo Lodge where you will stay two nights. There you will have an appointment with history at the Guayabo National Monument. It is believed that the site was inhabited from 1500 BC until about 1400 AD, and though very little has been excavated, visitors can see parts of roadways, aqueducts, pools, tombs and the foundations of homes. Without forgetting to mention white water rafting tours and other activities. Day 8 : DEPARTURE – You will drive back to the San Jose International Airport where you will drop off the car before going back to your home, with the Caribbean Twist now in your camera stick and in your memory with the promise of coming back to visit the rest of the country who has so much to give!.
