I. LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER (LDW)
This coverage is mandatory and applies to Europcar’s vehicle in
case of accident, theft or total loss. It is the only coverage with a
deductible, the total cost is $500 on all vehicle categories (special
offer available for CentralAmerica.Com's clients only)
II. LICENSE PLATE FEE (LPF)
This coverage is included in the basic cover and is the road tax.
III. SUPPLEMENTAL LIABILITY (SLI)
This cover is mandatory when client declines the basic cover. It then has a cost of $ 10.00 USD per day
IV. THE PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE (PAI)
This optional and additional cover, which has a cost of $3 per day for
all categories, applies to all passengers in the Europcar vehicle,
including the driver. No deductible is applied.
IV. SUPER LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER (SLDW)
This optional and additional Coverage, which has a cost of $9 day for
sedan and 4x4’s, frees the lessee from all liability for paying
damages or deductible amount in case of accident, theft, or total loss,
except in cases of negligence. This insurance must be requested for
each lease contract, and the Company reserves the right to suspend it
at any time if it considers it is being misused. When this cover is
taken, the deposit is lowered to $ 100.00 USD.
The most common negligence examples are:
1. Improper advances, which cause collisions or vehicle flip over.
2. Running over red lights, which may result in collisions or vehicle flip over.
3. Driving at a higher speed than what is established by Law for the particular road.
4. Leaving keys on car doors or on the ignition while vehicle is
unattended, leaving doors open or unlocked during absence.
5. When the vehicle is parked in a “no parking” zone or in
a place where theft or damage of the vehicle is fomented.
This cover is not applicable for tires or personal belongings inside vehicle.
Europcar accepts credit card coverage plans for Gold or Platinum VISA,
Mastercard and AMEX Cards. In order to apply these plans, client must
verify that his credit card coverage plan applies for Costa Rica and
for the car category he is renting. In this case, he must take the SLI
cover of $ 10.00 USD per day.
