Jicaro Island Ecolodge - Granada Isletas, Nicaragua

The lodge is located in Jicaro Island which is one of the Isletas (small islands), just a short boat ride from the colonial town of Granada with spectacular views of the Mombacho Volcano across the lake. Nine private casitas serve as the perfect setting for romantic escapes, activities and active exploration and wellness retreats. Immerse yourself in a magical island experience filled with peace, tranquility and access to a wide variety of tours and activities.

Private Casitas
The island boast 9 private two story casitas of 60 square meters each with plenty of space to relax, enjoy the lake views and get away from it all. All cabins have been build with Rainforest Alliance FSC certified cedar hardwood and feature a second story bedrooms with a king size bed as well as a downstairs living area with access to a private balcony featuring lounge furniture and a hammock. The downstairs sitting area can be converted into a sleeping area for an additional person.

All nine casitas on the island have lake views and are within a short walk from the pool and restaurant area. Early morning coffee and late afternoon "sundowner" delivery service is available upon request. We can certainly understand that you might be tempted never wanting to leave your hammock on your private deck overlooking the lake.

Culinary Experience
Being located on an island, we realize that the culinary experience is probably one of the most important parts of the lodging experience at Jicaro. The small intimate outdoor restaurant with an open kitchen offers fresh, local, organic, healthy dishes with a focus on fish, chicken, vegetables and fruits. Nicaraguan specialties are upgraded by our chefs to meet the expectations of well traveled gourmet guests.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as non alcoholic drinks are included in the room rate and a full service bar is available for alcoholic beverages. We believe that when you have the best and tastiest ingredients, you can cook very simply and the food will be extraordinary because it tastes like what it is.

Yoga and Wellness
The serenity and tranquility of being on the island is unparalleled in Nicaragua and the Yoga platform is set up with incredible lake and volcano views. The island´s open spaces have been designed to maximize drama and intimacy. None more so than the water front Yoga deck. The radial structure cantilevers over the water offering a perfect setting for your yoga retreat.

Tucked in behind the deck is a Cenote reflection pool, a series of hand tooled concentric stone walls circling down to a water mirror whose level constantly changes with the rise of fall of Lake Nicaragua. Combine this with the fire pit, lit each evening and backing onto the palm thatched Wellness centre and you have all the basic elements needed to get back in touch with the essential. Spa services are available at the lodge. The focus is on massage therapy using local organic products.

Jicaro Island can be reached in less than one hour from the International Airport in Managua by shuttle transfer (which we would be delighted to arrange for you) and then a short 20 minute boat ride from the Granada Asese Port. During your trip you will be accompanied by a bilingual guide or driver.
