La Vida Sencilla
The Surf Sanctuary is a new surf camp that opened November, 2005 in the area of Las Salinas, located in the Southwest region of Nicaragua on the Pacific Ocean.

A small group of casitas are nestled among mountains and surrounded by beautiful beaches and warm water.

Offshore winds 300 plus days out of the year. Main surf season is from April to December. Typically surf is head high + with consistent larger south swells. Light offshore winds and some rain. This is the season for those wanting the adrenaline rush as the reefs really wake up from their slumber of the dry season.

December to April, the dry season is in full affect. No rain, moderate offshore winds with the surf average in the chest high range with less consistent larger south swells. This is a great time for those still developing their surf skills or those who want warm, uncrowded fun surf.

A long sleeve wetsuit top might be needed at times during the dry season as the water temp can get chilly at times if we have several straight days of stiff offshores that cause upwelling to occur. Outside temperature warm year round.

When traveling to the The Surf Sanctuary you will fly into Managua International Airport located in the capital city Managua. Try to arrive or depart to and from Managua airport before 5pm to avoid staying overnight in town.

If necessary, there is a Best Western across from the airport or Hotel Euro is a short taxi ride away. Accommodations include casita with hot water, private bath, air conditioning and private porches with a view of the pool and tropical gardens. Guests have access to the restaurant providing fresh local flavors, game center, pool and a short walk to the beach. Many hammocks are available to all guests.
