Dec 23, 2020

Costa Rica flight/airline information update: Latest weekly update for flights and airlines flying into into Costa Rica during the coronavirus pandemic as of December 23, 2020.

The first Iberia flight from Madrid arrived on August 3. Since then, Aeromexico, Alaska, Air Canada, Air France, American Airlines, Avianca, Copa, Delta, JetBlue, KLM, Lufthansa, Spirit, United, Volaris, and Wingo have also restarted operations.  Domestic airline Sansa is also flying again. You’ll see these airlines in bold. We’ll keep updating this list on a weekly basis until everything is in bold.

The only update this week is that Delta started its Los Angeles and Minneapolis routes again. JetBlue also started flying to and from LA in the past week, and United started some of its routes between Costa Rica and the United States.

On the downside, British Airways announced it was closing down its London-San Jose route in 2021.

At this stage, most airlines either have their restart dates fixed or they’re holding off until things clear up regarding potential further lockdowns in Europe and/or North America. To check the situation in North America and Europe, please visit this article to get a gauge on how flights to/from these countries and states may play out. It’s possible that positive news regarding vaccine rollouts may start moving things forward again in the coming weeks.
