Belize Independence Day 2022

Belize Independence Day 2022: Happy 41st Birthday, Belize!

As Belize celebrates its 41st year of independence, we celebrate with 41 images taken over the past year of the country affectionately called “The Jewel”.

Happy 41st, Belize! This year, with a theme of “Valiant and Bold, Proud and Strong, Belize will celebrate in a way it was unable to do last year for its 40th, and the year before for its 39th. Both those years were mired in Covid restrictions and curfews and… well, you know the drill. So this year, life truly begins at 41. Better late than never.

The Valiant and Bold, Proud and Strong theme is all about rebounding (“valiant and bold comes from the national anthem), about Belize picking itself up, dusting itself down, and getting back into the bustle and hustle of life in a post-pandemic world. Sure, there are problems. The pandemic knocked the stuffing out of the country, economically, and the cost of living crisis affecting the world also affects Belize in a big way. There’s lots of work to do.

But forget all that for now. At least for today.

Today is about Belize enjoying itself properly on Independence Day for the first time since 2019. If you’re in Belize, get out there today and enjoy the parades, parties, and celebrations. You deserve it.

And as for us, we’ll celebrate in the only way we know how, by highlighting the beauty of Belize, a tiny country in Central America. Last year, we posted 40 Instagram images of Belize in the previous year, since the 39th anniversary. This year, we’ll do the same. Below, please find 41 of our most popular images of Belize posted on our Instagram account between September 21, 2021 and today.

Last year, when we did this, we found that somehow, Caye Caulker pics were by far our most liked. It wasn’t even close. Now we know that Caye Caulker is beautiful, but come on! So’s the rest of Belize. This year, it seems way more balanced. Out of our 41 most popular images of Belize over the past year (as determined by “likes” on Instagram), San Pedro/Ambergris Caye comes first, with 12 images. Caye Caulker has ten, then Hopkins Village with six, Placencia with four, and the rest scattered over the rest of the country.

We hope you like these pics and we hope you can see, if you’re not in Belize, just how beautiful the country is, and how much it’s worth a visit between now and the next Independence day. And if you are in Belize, well, you already know:

Again, we wish a wonderful Independence Day to Belize and Belizeans everywhere.
