Repatriation Flights from Central America for Foreign Nationals in August

Are you stuck in Central America and trying to get home to North America or Europe? Here’s a list of the repatriation flights available in August. 

A list of repatriation flights for foreign citizens looking to leave Central America. Please note, these flights are subject to change/cancellation at any moment.

Passengers should contact the airline or their embassy for further details.

The list below concentrates on repatriation flights to North America and Europe. If you’re trying to get elsewhere, please contact your embassy.

Belize:

There are no scheduled repatriation flights from Belize scheduled at this time. For Belizean citizens abroad trying to get back TO their country, the Government of Belize says that the repatriation program will continue through August. Belizeans need to visit this website and apply by filling out the linked form.

Guatemala:

According to the US Embassy in Guatemala, “United Airlines has flights scheduled through August 14 to the George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport (IAH), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).”

Anyone interested in boarding a flight should contact United Airlines directly or email ventasGUA@united.com.

Honduras:

Spirit departing San Pedro Sula (SAP) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Florida on August 10 and August 13.

El Salvador:

United is offering twice-weekly flights in August from San Salvador (SAL) to Los Angeles (LAX), Washington DC (IAD), and Newark (EWR). Check with the airline for info.

Avianca is offering the following flights from San Salvador in August:

San Salvador to Miami (MIA) on August 10, San Salvador to Houston (IAH) on August 12, and San Salvador to Los Angeles on August 13.

Nicaragua:

Aeromexico departing Managua (MGA) to Mexico City, Mexico on August 15. Onward travel from Mexico City to United States available.

International airlines plan to resume operations to/from Nicaragua in September.

Costa Rica:

Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO) in San Jose is now open for commercial flights, with Iberia and Lufthansa flying to Madrid and Frankfurt twice a week. Iberia departs Tuesdays/Saturdays and Lufthansa departs Wednesdays/Saturdays during August. 

Spirit departing San Jose (SJO) to Fort Lauderdale August 14.

United departing San Jose (SJO) to Houston on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays until August 31.

Panama:

United departing Panama City (PTY) to Houston on August 14 and August 21.

Copa Airlines departing Panama City to Miami on August 10. According to Copa’s website, they say they will be starting services to Guayaquil, Mexico City, New York, Quito, San Jose (Costa Rica), Santiago, Santo Domingo, and Sao Paolo in August.
