Joan Borreli

Joan Borreli spent the first 40 years of her life in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where she owned and operated a full-service travel agency, which enabled her desire for travel. One of her trips, in 1999, brought her to Costa Rica. Five years later, she sold everything, packed a bag and landed in San Jose with her dog, Simon. Her love of nature led her to meet her Costa Rican husband, Rudy. Their shared love of birdwatching and animals has taken them to every corner of Costa Rica. Today, Joan runs Costa Rica Focus, a birding tour company, and assists Rudy with his specialized birding tours throughout Central America. Their free time is spent with their pack of 10 adopted street dogs, rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs, scuba diving, reading, and listening to the Beatles.
