Our Ten Most Popular Instagram Videos of 2021

To close out 2021 in Central America, we take a look at our top ten most popular Instagram videos of 2021. Which one is your favorite?

If a picture paints a thousand words, how many does video paint? Five thousand? Ten? a million? Over the past year, we’ve doubled down on the video content we post on our Instagram account, in order to give our followers and readers a more rounded experience of live and travel around Central America.

Yesterday we published our fourth annual photo essay of the most popular photos we curated throughout the year on Instagram. Today, it’s the turn of video. Please find below, for the first time, our ten most popular Instagram videos of 2021.

Our top ten videos of the year are quite a bit more eclectic than the photos. While our most popular photos focused on Belize and Guatemala, the videos feature more countries. In fact, all of Central America is featured in our list below.

Panama dominates, with three videos, followed by Honduras with two. Then Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua all have one each. So without further ado, let’s end the year with your favorite/most popular Central America videos of 2021!

10. Our list starts with our tenth-most popular video as voted by you. A great little piece of footage taken with wet feet by @roatan24 on the island of Roatán, Honduras.

9. In ninth place is the first of our Panama videos, a great arial shot of a ship passing under the Centennial Bridge on the Panama Canal by @x.harley17 (page no longer available).

8. Whale watching is big up and down the Pacific Coast of Central America, where twice a year the humpbacks come to play. Here, @explore_es gets up close and personal off the coast of Los Cobanos, El Salvador.

7. We’ve never actually set foot here (yet), but it’s our favorite bar/restaurant in Central America. Welcome to the @bluebayoubelize on Secret Beach, Ambergris Caye, Belize!

6. In sixth place, it’s Guatemala. Here’s a taste of the beautiful views one experiences on the descent down to Lake Atitlán. Video by @edison_n09.

5. Our second Panama video on the list is also our second Panama Canal video. This footage by @susiandres offers a great peek at life as Panama Canal pilot.

4. Time for a little Nicaragua. Little Corn remains perhaps the most typical Robinson Crusoe-like tropical island in the region. Pure picture perfect. Thanks to @ensuenoslittlecornisland (page no longer available) for this video.

3. Not much more to say about this magnificent footage of a jaguar somewhere on Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula than “wow”! This video comes courtesy of @ticoswildstudio.

2. Moe tropical island vibes for our second-most popular video of 2021. Here, we return to Honduras, to the island of Utila, where there’s some pure beach living happening. Video by the @manuriiboutiquehotel.

1. And back to Panama for the third time for our most popular video of the year, from our old friend Keara (aka @panamamahoney) in the Bocas del Toro. We interviewed her about life in the Bocas earlier on in the year. In the meantime, who can resist this sloth?
