In the light of recent announcements from American Airlines and WestJet, we take a quick look at the increased flights to Belize that are set to start next month.
If you’re planning on a trip to Belize anytime soon, your options might have just opened up a little, according to Tropic Air. American and WestJet are just two airlines that have opened up more flights to Belize in the upcoming high season and going on into 2024.
Tropic Air is one of Belize’s two domestic airlines, and they’ve been excellent on their social media this week about informing their followers about international flights into Belize
It makes sense, right? Most travelers coming into Belize City don’t stay in Belize City. They get out to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, to Caye Caulker, or south down to Placencia and beyond. And many of them will hop onto a puddle jumper from their international arrival and fly to their final destination.
Anyway, that aside, Tropic Air informed us this morning that, “starting December 20th, American Airlines will double its flights to Miami from Belize. The double daily frequencies will run through August 2024.”
So travelers from Miami will now have two daily direct flights to Belize instead of one from December 20. Tropic Air also informed us yesterday that WestJet are extending their seasonal services from Calgary and Toronto by a month, great news for Canadian travelers wanting to avoid the peak of the high season.
2023 has been a great year for anyone thinking of flying to Belize
In June, JetBlue announced they were starting a direct JFK-Belize City service in December. Alaska Airlines also said they’re increasing their direct flights to Belize from Los Angeles. In November, Alaska will operate four fights a week, then five in December. From January, that will increase to a daily flight. Alaska will also restart direct flights from Seattle in November.
Southwest Airlines is also adding more flights to Belize in 2024
They’re adding an extra Saturday service between Houston and Belize, bringing the total to eight flights per week. Also, the new Saturday-only service from Baltimore to Belize will now continue through the summer. Southwest also continues to operate flights between Denver and Belize.
As it stands, there will be more direct routes into Belize than ever before this high season. Atlanta, Baltimore/DC, Calgary, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Seattle, and Toronto will all offer direct flights over the coming months.
