12 Central American Instagram Accounts You Should Follow

Instagram isn’t only for looking into the lives of celebrities. Many also use the photo-sharing platform to look at life in other countries and parts of the world. Here we outline 12 different Central American Instagram accounts you should follow if you’re interested in checking out this region.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Central America is perfect for Instagram. I know we keep saying the same thing, but it’s true.

Although it’s fair to say Central America represents a tiny percentage of the 500 million users in the Insta-universe, the sheer beauty of the region packs a massive punch. Nowhere else crams so many colors and cultures into such a small area. The region inspires professional photographers and smartphone snappers alike.

If you live or travel in Central America, or if you’re planning to live or travel in the region, you’ll find Instagram the ideal platform for inspiration and for inspiring others.

So, what are the best Central American Instagram accounts out there? Who are the most inspired by the daily lives of people – or the landscapes – in Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Belize?

Below you’ll find 12 Central American Instagram accounts who inspire us and our own account at Central America Living. We hope they do the same for you wherever you are in the world.

@brightworld.travel

Cappie’s Adventures might have more fun than anyone else in Central America. You’ll find him and his trusty drone everywhere in the region, but most often in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Belize. If you don’t wish you were hanging out in Central America, you’ll change your mind after following Cappie.

You can tell Fergie Mendez loves Costa Rica. She’s proud to call herself a cultural tourist in her own country and her images reflect her desire to learn and teach. In particular, we love her pics of buildings and landmarks around the Central Valley along with the historical explanations. You always feel you’re learning something when you’re on her page.

If you ever wanted to move to a small Caribbean island and work as a scuba diving instructor but just haven’t figured out how, then follow Sarita del Mar. Her Insta-images of life both under and over the water in Utila, Honduras (plus her blog) make you want to get serious about following your dreams.

@adriramirez.o

Follow this account from Costa Rican Instagrammer Adriana Ramirez. If you don’t, you’ll miss out on some of the best Central American photography you’ll ever see.

@dserranor

Diego Serrano has a great eye. He delivers a constant, classy feed of glossy images depicting the architecture of San Salvador. And now and then he gets out of town too. This account offer the essence of El Salvador. If you have any affection for El Salvador, follow him.

@adambaker44

A British photographer and video-maker living in San Jose, Adam Baker’s job comprises traveling around and filming luxury hotels for Namu Travel. During his breaks he fills up his Insta-feed with compelling images from around (and, thanks to his trusty drone, above) Costa Rica.

lajessie_j

A lot of Guatemalan Instagram accounts focus on individual areas like Antigua or Lake Atitlan. That’s fine – Guatemala’s different parts could fill a million feeds. But we like this account from Jessica Juarez. She seems like she’s exploring her country a little. It’ll be good exploring it with her through her lens.

We were thinking if there was anyone else on Instagram who can make Belize look even prettier than it is. We could not. Now, making Belize look pretty is easy. Belize is a beautiful country. But food and travel blogger Erin De Santiago makes Belize look pretty in style.

The Akradi family runs Bocas del Toro Productions, an aerial photography company in Bocas del Toro, Panama. Bocas del Toro Productions has its own awesome Instagram account, but this personal account is just as cool. We’re talking images of family life with a toddler on a tropical Caribbean island.

The streets and architecture of San Jose, Costa Rica portrayed with cool style by this urban photographer. Check out his portrait account too for awesome images of the Costa Rican public.

All the Central American Instagram accounts listed above are local.

That means those running them all live in the region. There are plenty of accounts by people traveling through Central America or visiting individual countries. They provide some great images and we follow a lot of them.

But we wanted to highlight accounts from people living and working here, people with an intimate knowledge of where they are.

We also wanted to highlight up-and-coming, smaller Instagram accounts other than the larger ones run by businesses.

If you have a Central American Instagram account you think we follow (and we probably already do!), please let us know in the comments below. We’d love to check it out!
